Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam visits IST Austria

On Friday, December 2, the Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam, Prof. Nguyen Thien Nhan, and the Vietnamese Ambassador to Austria, Mr. Thiep Nguyen, visited the Institute of Science and Technology (IST) Austria. After welcoming them on the campus Managing Director Gerald Murauer gave a presentation on the establishment and development of IST Austria as well as the academic achievements of its scientists. His presentation was followed by Assistant Professor Harald Janovjak’s talk about the research performed at IST Austria. The subsequent tour of the campus led the visitors from the central building and the department of computer science to the life sciences laboratories of the Bertalanffy Foundation Building and back to the Raiffeisen Lecture Hall. Prof. Nguyen Thien Nhan, who also serves as science and education minister, and Mr. Thiep Nguyen showed special interest in the PhD program of IST Austria. The IST Graduate School allows promising students from all over the world to earn their PhD in the natural sciences.
