Four new Professors to join IST Austria

Number of IST Professors rises to 20 • Research Fields: Computer Vision, Cryptography, Cell Biology, and Statistics • President Thomas Henzinger: “Demonstration of growing attraction”

President Thomas Henzinger today announced the appointment of four further Assistant Professors who will join IST Austria. Vladimir Kolmogorov and Krzysztof Pietrzak will become part of the dynamically developing Computer Science cluster while Daria Siekhaus will strengthen biological research at the Institute. Caroline Uhler, the youngest faculty member of IST,  is a statistician working in a highly interdisciplinary area at the intersection of mathematics, computer science, and biology. The new professors will start working in Klosterneuburg between August 2011 and January 2012.

Thomas Henzinger expressed his delight: “Since 2009 now 20 excellent researchers have decided to join IST Austria as Professors. The appointment of these four outstanding scientists demonstrates our growing attraction for researchers with very high potentials. With these new professors IST Austria confirms its trajectory of development in becoming a research institute of excellence and high visibility.”
