RESEARCH INTEREST
My main focus is molecular biology. I support ongoing experiments in the group, establish new methods and give advice and training and try to take care of the lab.
Molecular analysis of ant immune response
I use quantitative PCR as a method to answer, which genes of the innate immune system are switched on in ants after exposure of the colony with to fungal and bacterial pathogens. I am also interested how the coevolution of pathogens with their ant hosts is reflected in their genetics.
