I shall introduce the non-standard generating function of Birkhoff billiards. The main application includes the effective version of Birkhoff conjecture for centrally-symmetric curves. I shall also discuss the variational principle of the non-standard generating function. Based on joint works with Andrey E. Mironov and Daniel Tsodikovich.
