The geometric Satake isomorphism is frequently used in geometric approaches to the Langlands program. Given a split reductive group, the isomorphism relates certain sheaves on the affine Grassmannian, an infinite dimensional variety, with representations of the Langlands dual group. After an introduction to the subject I speak about versions of the isomorphism for twisted (that is, not necessarily split) reductive groups.
