Research Technician / Software Engineering Research Group Wojtan

Your Responsibilities

The Wojtan group develops practical computer algorithms for simulating physics and solving problems in computational geometry and numerical analysis, with applications in computer graphics. We are currently looking for a Research Technician with focus on Software Engineering with the following responsibilities in order to support our group’s research:

  • Develop and maintain software (C++, Mathematica, Matlab, Python, and/or CUDA) covering the areas of numerical analysis, physics simulation, and geometry processing
  • Advise and assist group members with the dissemination of research results (3D modeling, 3D animation, 3D rendering, image processing, video editing)
  • Prepare research demonstrations for outreach activities, e.g. virtual reality programming, preparing new animations, etc.
  • Take part in group meetings and provide solutions to everyday challenges

Your Profile

  • Degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in computer science, applied mathematics, physics, or related fields
  • Extensive experience in software development and algorithm prototyping (in C++, Python, Mathematica, Matlab, OpenGL, and/or CUDA)
  • Demonstrated understanding and familiarity with numerical algorithms and differential equations
  • Experience with 3D modeling, animation, and rendering
  • Interest in physics simulation, geometry processing, and computer graphics
  • Excellent command of English (working language)
  • Proactive personality with attention to detail and strong problem solving skills
  • Team player with the ability to work independently, learn quickly, and multi-task
