Optimal Transport and Density Functional Theory

Date: April 25, 2019 | 3:45 pm – 4:45 pm
Speaker: Mathieu Lewin, Universite Paris-Dauphine
Location: Erwin Schrödinger Institute (ESI) in Vienna

In this talk I will explain the role of Optimal Transport in Density Functional Theory, the main method used by quantum chemists and physicists to compute the state of quantum electrons at the microscopic scale. I will review some recent mathematical advances in this theme and mention some open problems.
