Tropical cyclones are among the most spectacular geophysical phenomena on our planet. In this presentation, we will briefly review their climatology and physics. We will then discuss the risks associated with tropical cyclones, and how global warming is expected to impact tropical cyclone frequency and intensity in the coming decades. Finally, we will end with some open questions and ongoing research in this area.
