RESEARCH INTEREST

As a chemist I perform gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analyses, establish new methods and train group members in the use of GC-MS, as well as give general support to the research group.

Analysis of disease associated chemical cues by GC-MS

The main communication mode of social insect colonies is of chemical nature. Ants carry a lot of information on e.g. their colony identity and caste on their body surface in the form of cuticular hydrocarbons. We test whether the chemical profiles of ants also reflect their infection state with pathogens.
