Postdocs interact closely with colleagues from different fields through joint projects and events, and have access to state-of-the art facilities from bioimaging to nanofabrication and scientific computing.
How to apply
A postdoctoral fellow can be appointed for a period of up to five years. Candidates are selected by the head of a research group (Professor or Assistant Professor). If you are interested in a postdoctoral position at IST Austria please contact the respective group leader directly.

Fellowships @IST Austria
IST Austria offer two fellowship programs for outstanding, external postdoctoral candidates: The ‘NOMIS fellowships at IST Austria’ program supports applicants working at the intersection of two or more scientific disciplines and who show significant scientific leadership potential. The IST-BRIDGE program (partially funded by the European Union) will support international applicants with a ‘career track’ training program and whose proposed research and experience complements those of an existing IST research group.
The IST-BRIDGE program will launch in Summer 2021, with a provisional submission deadline of November 5, 2021. Further deadlines shall follow in May and November 2022 and 2023.
The Postdoctoral Office (PDO) helps Postdocs at IST Austria with all (administrative) matters during their stay at IST Austria.
The Postdoc Association (PDA) represents the post-doctoral researchers of IST Austria. The goal of the PDA is to support and improve the research and social environment for postdocs at the IST Austria.
