Postdocs
Postdoctoral researchers take their next career steps at IST Austria.
Highly qualified candidates who have recently completed their PhD or equivalent in the natural or computer sciences, mathematics or any related discipline are eligible to apply for a full-time postdoctoral position at IST Austria.
Postdocs at IST Austria develop the skills necessary for their next career steps elsewhere (career development trainings and workshops). Postdocs interact closely with colleagues from different fields through joint projects and events, and have access to state-of-the art facilities from bioimaging to nanofabrication and scientific computing.
A postdoctoral fellow can be appointed for a period of up to five years. Candidates are selected by the head of a research group (Professor or Assistant Professor). If you are interested in a postdoctoral position at IST Austria please contact the respective group leader directly.
IST Austria offer two fellowship programs for outstanding, external postdoctoral candidates: The ‘NOMIS fellowships at IST Austria’ program supports applicants working at the intersection of two or more scientific disciplines and who show significant scientific leadership potential. The ISTfellow program supports applicants whose proposed research and experience complements those of an existing IST research group.
One joint call for both programs is planned for 2021, with a provisional submission deadline in June. Application documents shall be available prior to the March call opening at the individual program links below.
The Postdoctoral Office (PDO) helps Postdocs at IST Austria with all (administrative) matters during their stay at IST Austria.
