The talk discusses joint work with Johannes Agerskov and Robin Reuvers deriving asymptotic formulas for the ground state energy of Bose and Fermi gases in one dimension. For the hard core gas the formula is exact and for the delta-function Lieb-Liniger gas it gives and exact lower bound.
