IT Procurement & Asset Management

Your Responsibilities

Excellent research needs state-of-the-art IT infrastructure and innovative digital services. With a team of about 50 experts, we will redesign ISTA’s digital landscape over the next few years and implement an ambitious digital transformation programme to facilitate the Institute’s rapid growth. As part of our IT & Digital Transformation strategy, we are planning to renew and upgrade our physical IT infrastructure, introduce cloud-based digital services, and to establish professional IT management practices.
As an IT procurement and asset management expert you will play a crucial role both in our strategic technology projects and in IT management. Your responsibilities in these projects include:

  • Planning, coordinating, and executing the procurement of IT hardware, software, and services in accordance with institutional and public procurement rules
  • Collaborating with technical teams to define specifications, standards, and vendor requirements
  • Planning and implementing the lifecycle management of IT assets, including acquisition, deployment, tracking, and disposal
  • Maintaining and continuously improving the IT asset and license management system
  • Monitoring supplier performance, contracts, and service-level compliance
  • Establishing an IT controlling framework and participating in IT benchmarks
  • Supporting budget planning and controlling processes

Your Profile

  • Completed relevant degree, e.g., in business informatics, IT management or related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Several years of experience in IT procurement, asset management, or software licensing
  • Sound understanding of public procurement processes and contract management
  • Knowledge of typical software products, administrative processes, and organisational culture in a research institute or university
  • Proficiency with asset and license management tools as well as ERP systems (e.g., SAP)
  • Experience in IT service management and IT security frameworks such as ITIL and ISO 27001 is a plus
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical, administrative, and legal teams
  • Structured, service- and solution-oriented, and proactive approach to managing complex procurement cycles
  • Working language is English, fluency in German is a must
