Protein Service Technician in Core Facility

Your Responsibilities
The Protein Service at ISTA offers support in recombinant protein production and purification as well as in the biophysical characterization of proteins. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong background in protein biochemistry to replace a colleague during her one-year maternity leave. You will be involved in all aspects of the Protein Service and will help to support the needs of the scientists at ISTA.This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic research environment, working with state-of-the-art instrumentation and diverse protein targets. You will have the chance to broaden your technical expertise, collaborate closely with researchers and contribute to high-quality research support in an internationally renowned institute. This position is initially limited as a maternity leave replacement, but an extension of the contract can be discussed during the employment.
- Protein expression in insect and bacterial cells
- Purification of proteins (small scale and large scale) using Aekta Pure and Aekta Micro systems
- Help with biophysical characterization of proteins (e.g., DLS/DSF, SEC-MALS, Mass Photometry)
- Operate and maintain facility equipment
- Provide training and technical support to customers
- Reliably document all procedures along QC standards
- Manage and order lab supplies and consumables
Your Profile
- University degree (B.Sc, or M.Sc.) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or a closely related field
- Thorough understanding of the theoretical and technical principles of protein expression and purification
- Practical experience in protein purification using Aekta Pure chromatography systems
- Practical experience with biophysical characterization of proteins (e.g., SEC-MALS, DLS, DSF)
- Excellent communications skills in English (written & spoken)
- Service-oriented working style with excellent organizational skills and high quality standards
- Excellent team player with a friendly, collaborative, can-do mindset
