Research Technician – Bernecky group

Your Responsibilities
The Bernecky group aims to uncover critical mechanisms of RNA regulation during and after transcription. We use purification, reconstitution, and biochemical and structural analysis (particularly cryo-EM) to characterize protein-nucleic acid complexes and investigate their function. We are looking for a self-motivated, efficient, and reliable technician to provide research support for a project in which we investigate the activity and structure of a chromatin-binding multisubunit protein complex. This will include the following tasks:
- Molecular cloning (design and preparation of plasmids)
- Protein expression in insect and mammalian cells
- Protein purification, quantification, and quality control
- Optimization and performance of biochemical and biophysical assays
Your Profile
- Masters or PhD degree in biochemistry or a related subject
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of molecular biology and protein purification, including design of purification strategies and biochemical assays
- Experience using ÄKTA chromatography systems for multi-step protein purification
- Ability to perform experiments with high reproducibility and efficiently organize your time
