On September 3, 2020, Federal Minister for Digital and Economic Affairs Margarete Schramböck and Wirtschaftslandesrat Jochen Danninger visited the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (IST Austria) together with their government colleagues from the Austrian provinces. This visit was part of the Landes-Wirtschaftsreferent_Innenkonferenz, which took place on September 4, 2020 in Lower Austria/Tulln.

Federal Minister for Digital and Economic Affairs Margarete Schramböck: “Research institutions such as IST Austria strengthen industry, make our country attractive for new companies and are the basis for highly qualified jobs and above all for innovation”.

The program also included a visit to IST PARK, which was opened last year as a joint initiative of ecoplus, the Business Agency of Lower Austria and IST Austria. The IST PARK offers state-of-the-art laboratory and office infrastructure for academic spin-offs, deep tech start-ups and R&D companies. Here the bridge between basic research at IST Austria and the companies and industrial enterprises in the entire region is being built.

With its spin-off strategy, the province of Lower Austria is taking an important step towards founding promising companies from ideas and research results. IST Austria is an important partner in this process for the start of spin-offs from scientific institutions. Researchers are involved in the process at an early stage in order to create special value from science. This is where the research-to-value program of tecnet equity comes in. The state-owned technology incubator accent provides close exchange to support Lower Austrian technology start-ups. Here, IST Austria is a strong partner for R&D projects.
