IST Austria goes electric

Today Technology Counselor for Lower Austria Petra Bohuslav and IST President Thomas Henzinger presented the first electric vehicle of IST Austria. The Renault Kangoo will be used for transportation on campus and in Klosterneuburg. The delivery truck is operated by lithium ion batteries and has a range of 170 kilometers at a maximum speed of 130 km/h.

The electric vehicle extends the eco mobility of the world-class research institute. With its shuttle bus operating between Vienna-Heiligenstadt and the campus in Maria Gugging since February 2011, IST Austria makes yet another active contribution to reducing the pollutant emissions from vehicles in the region.
