MolTag extended: Successful PhD program for pharmaceutical sciences renewed
"Ion channels and transporters as Molecular Drug Targets (MolTag)", the successful FWF doctoral program led by Steffen Hering, Professor at the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology of the University of Vienna, will be extended for another four-year period. This PhD program will continue to provide young researchers with a profound, multidisciplinary education in pharmaceutical sciences. In order to mark the second period of MolTag, a symposium will be held on December 9 at IST Austria.
The FWF doctoral program on “Ion channels and transporters as molecular drug targets” (MolTag) has been renewed for another four-year period after the FWF (Austrian Science Fund) subjected it to a successful evaluation. Nine work groups from the University of Vienna, Medical University of Vienna, Vienna University of Technology, and IST Austria will provide PhD students with an education in pharmaceutical sciences. “The fact that this very interdisciplinary PhD program at four institutions has been renewed is a big success for the faculty and their doctoral students; four of the nine faculty members are from the University of Vienna. Our initiative to invest in modern pharmaceutical sciences has thus been proven right,” states Heinz W. Engl, Rector of the University of Vienna.
