Akiko Sato of OIST visits IST Austria
Akiko Sato of Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology shares experiences with IST Austria representatives
Yesterday Akiko Sato, Special Assistant to CEO and President of the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST), finished her two-day visit to the Institute of Science and Technology (IST) Austria. After meeting Laurenz Niel, Head of Academic Affairs, Tuesday evening, she gave a presentation to IST Austria President Thomas Henzinger and administrative staff members Wednesday morning. OIST Graduate University conducts internationally outstanding education and research in science and technology. Similar to IST Austria, it is an interdisciplinary graduate school offering a five-year PhD program in science. Her presentation was followed by a campus tour in the afternoon, leading her from the Raiffeisen Lecture Hall to the Central Building, the Bertalanffy Foundation Building and the MIBA Machine Shop. Akiko Sato concluded her visit by exchanging knowledge with heads from IST Austria units as diverse as Executive Office, Scientific Services, and Academic Affairs.
