Bernd Bickel receives Microsoft Visual Computing Award
IST Austria Professor recognized as best young scientist in visual computing
Bernd Bickel is the recipient of the Microsoft Visual Computing Award 2015. Microsoft Photogrammetry promotes young academics in Austria by enabling the Austrian Association for Pattern Recognition to award the Microsoft Visual Computing Award. This biannual price is endowed with 5,000 EUR and is given to the best young scientist in the field of visual computing. Bickel is a computer scientist interested in computer graphics and its applications in animation, biomechanics, material science and computational design for digital fabrication. He received his PhD at ETH Zurich in 2010 and then worked as postdoc, researcher and group leader at Disney Research Zurich. Bickel joined IST Austria as assistant professor in January 2015.
