Today Johanna Mikl-Leitner, Vice Governor of Lower Austria, paid a visit to the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (IST Austria) in Klosterneuburg. IST Austria President Thomas Henzinger, Vice President Michael Sixt, and Managing Director Georg Schneider welcomed her for a presentation and discussion at the voestalpine Administration Building. Mikl-Leitner then went on a campus tour and had a meeting with Professor Bernd Bickel in Lab and Office Building West. After a short introduction to his research, the computer scientist talked to the visitor about his recent findings in computer graphics and digital fabrication, demonstrating a new algorithm to optimize the 3D printing of gyros in prototyping. “I see IST Austria as the place where the future has already begun,” stated Mikl-Leitner before departing from IST Austria.
