Non-profit trusts: on the right track

The President of the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (IST Austria), Prof. Thomas Henzinger, welcomes the initiative to introduce non-profit trusts in Austria. Henzinger: “The federal government is on the right track. The new laws on non-profit trusts can contribute to increase the willingness of the private sector to donate funds to basic research. Germany and Switzerland provide evidence for the high potential that non-profit trusts have for funding science. For its further development IST Austria considerably relies on acquiring private funds.” Henzinger concludes: “We are confident that the new options in Austria will appeal to donors with a heart for science.“
