Prime Minister Faymann visits IST Austria
Prime Minister Werner Faymann and Junior Minister Josef Ostermayer on IST campus • President Thomas Henzinger presents development • Prime Minister Faymann meets students, young scientists and professors
Prime Minister Werner Faymann today visited the Institute of Science and Technology (IST) Austria. IST President Thomas Henzinger and Managing Director Gerald Murauer informed the Prime Minister and Junior Minister Josef Ostermayer of the establishment and development of the research institute. Faymann and Ostermayer also met professors Carl-Philipp Heisenberg and Michael Sixt, postdocs Verena Ruprecht and Stefan Wieser as well as student Magdalena Steinrück. Faymann showed a particular interest in the activities of the students and young scientists. Faymann: “IST Austria is setting benchmarks in the education of young scientists in the natural sciences. This area is exceedingly relevant for securing and developing Austria as a center of innovation and technology.” IST President Thomas Henzinger: “I am grateful to Prime Minister Faymann and the Austrian Federal Government. Their support is evidence that we are on the right track in developing IST Austria into an international research institute of excellence.”
