Two further professors join IST Austria
Björn Hof establishes experimental physics • Uli Wagner strengthens mathematics cluster • Six recruitments in 2012 bring total number to 28 professors • President Henzinger: „New fields will increase the international visibility of IST Austria“
Today, President Thomas Henzinger announced the appointment of two further faculty members of the Institute of Science and Technology (IST) Austria. Björn Hof will start as Professor and Uli Wagner as Assistant Professor at the Institute in spring 2013. Hof is the first experimental physicist joining IST Austria bringing with him an ERC Starting Grant, Wagner will join the research field of mathematics.
President Henzinger stated his delight: “I am very glad that these two outstanding scientists have decided to join IST Austria. Uli Wagner will contribute to the growing mathematics activities at IST Austria. With Björn Hof we are establishing a field of experimental physics at IST Austria. Together with our four other recruitments in 2012, Hof and Wagner extend our research focus, as recommended by the international evaluation committee in its report in 2011. The appointment of Björn Hof demonstrates that IST Austria is able to attract promising scientists in an area that is new to the institute. With Hof’s ERC Grant we are raising the number to a total of 12 for our 28 faculty members.”
